New Practice Ownership

From 1st June 2024, Straven Medical will change ownership. After over 35 years of ownership, we have decided to sell the practice to ensure the long-term future of Straven Medical.

The staff will remain the same, and Denise will continue to work her current hours over 3 days a week. Murray will continue his Rest Home work. Both of us plan to continue working for the next 2 to 3 years.

The new practice owners are Dr Jian Tham & his business partner, Mr Ming Goh. Most of you have meet Jian over his last few years working in the practice and will appreciate his high-quality care. Ming has a prescriber background but brings business and management skills to the team. They will maintain the same compassionate and comprehensive care which you have come to expect from Straven Medical.

We would like to thank all of you for your kindness and support over the years.

Best wishes,

Denise and Murray

If the matter is urgent and needs to be seen within a few days, please speak to a nurse and they can help arrange an acute appointment either with Denise or another GP.
She will no longer be offering skin checks as both Sarah Robson & Jian Tham offer these.
She will continue doing Womens Health work.

New Cervical Screening

From 12th September 2023  the primary test for cervical screening (previously called a “smear” test) will change to an HPV test, with the option of self-testing. The new screening method is more accurate at detecting who is at higher risk of developing cervical cancer. Please make a nurse appointment, or phone the Practice Nurse for more information
